Beach hours extended, rivers reopen from Monday

Open­ing hours for the beach­es have been ex­tend­ed by two hours and peo­ple can now ac­cess the sea­side from 5 am to 2 pm start­ing from Mon­day.

Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley an­nounced the ex­tend­ed hours dur­ing the Gov­ern­ment's COVID-19 up­date at the Diplo­mat­ic Cen­tre on Sat­ur­day.

The Prime Min­is­ter al­so lift­ed the ban on all rivers with­in the same re­stric­tions gov­ern­ing beach­es, that is no al­co­hol, no loud mu­sic, no par­ties, no fires and no gath­er­ings over ten.

Row­ley said that ac­cord­ing to checks with the med­ical team there was no ex­plo­sion of COVID-19 num­ber since beach­es have been re­opened.

"And since we got a good re­sult so far we can go a lit­tle fur­ther," he said.

Row­ley al­so said that he was ex­pect­ed to meet with the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly (THA) chief sec­re­tary Far­ley Au­gus­tine to dis­cuss the re­strict­ed re­open­ing of reef tours.

"I am an­tic­i­pat­ing that we can do that," he said.

In Trinidad, the swamp tours would al­so be re­opened with re­stric­tions.

"Hav­ing ac­cept­ed that we have to live with the virus, let us see how much we can do in the liv­ing safe­ly and sen­si­bly," he said.
