Po­lice ar­rest­ed a 21-year-old man from Phase 5, Beetham Gar­dens min­utes af­ter he and an­oth­er man robbed an eatery in San Juan on Mon­day.

The sus­pects en­tered the es­tab­lish­ment around 11.20 a.m. on 7 April, pos­ing as cus­tomers.

One of the men pulled out a knife, an­nounced a rob­bery, and or­dered the 44-year-old own­er to hand over cash and valu­ables, while the sec­ond sus­pect po­si­tioned him­self near the door to keep watch.

As the own­er strug­gled with the armed sus­pect, the man dealt him sev­er­al blows to the stom­ach. The sus­pects then fled along Chootoo Ex­ten­sion Road.

Of­fi­cers of the Guard and Emer­gency Branch, who were on pa­trol in the area, re­ceived the alert and lat­er ap­pre­hend­ed one of the sus­pects.

Med­ical per­son­nel lat­er took the vic­tim to the St Joseph En­hanced Health Cen­tre, where he re­ceived treat­ment and was dis­charged.
