A 24-year-old man from Belmont was denied bail on Tuesday after he was charged with murder, wounding with intent, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.
Samuel Alexander was charged on February 14, following the advice of Assistant Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Daniella Thompson.
Alexander is expected to re-appear in court on November 10.
According to police reports, around 11:20 am on September 27 2024, a group of people were liming along Serraneau Road, Belmont, when a silver Nissan Tiida approached. A man armed with a rifle exited the vehicle and fired several shots in the direction of the group. One victim was struck on his left leg, while a second victim was struck about the head and body.
Both men were taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital for medical attention.
However, the second victim, Tafawa Roberts, 24, of Belmont succumbed to his injuries on October 4 2024.
