Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley says he is dis­gust­ed with an at­tack on a sev­en-year-old child by Ra­dio Talk show host at Pow­er 102 FM, Bar­ring­ton ‘Skip­py’ Thomas, who al­leged­ly made defam­a­to­ry re­marks about the child whose moth­er pho­tographed her with Dr Row­ley on Car­ni­val Tues­day.

The mat­ter has al­so en­gaged the at­ten­tion of the Chil­dren’s Au­thor­i­ty.

Speak­ing to Guardian Me­dia yes­ter­day, PM Row­ley linked the at­tack to the Op­po­si­tion Unit­ed Na­tion­al Con­gress. Row­ley said, “I have seen it and I am dis­gust­ed .... such sick and nasty be­hav­iour from a ra­dio per­son­al­i­ty like Bar­ring­ton Thomas who is do­ing noth­ing that Ver­nel­la Al­leyne did not at­tempt to do to me for the po­lit­i­cal ben­e­fit of his pay­mas­ters in the UNC.”

Row­ley added, “This sense­less de­bas­ing of this child and her par­ents comes from the hymn book of the UNC. It is sim­ply an­oth­er at­tempt at slan­der­ing me with a re­volt­ing nar­ra­tive which they all be­lieve will dam­age me and re­dound to the ben­e­fit of the UNC. “

He said this was not the first at­tempt to as­sas­si­nate his char­ac­ter.

“You may re­call some­time last year Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar put some young moth­er, who is whol­ly un­known to me, on a UNC plat­form to say that I was in­ap­pro­pri­ate with her sev­en-year-old daugh­ter? When that failed to stir the sen­si­ble pub­lic she brought on one called Carl­ton Den­nie on the UNC plat­form to tell a most mon­strous lie that I in­struct­ed him to fire all In­di­ans at the SSA. All of this is of re­cent vin­tage but is not dis­con­nect­ed from the old­er woman from Diego Mar­tin who was pro­duced by Ian Al­leyne un­der Mrs Per­sad-Bisses­sar’s guid­ance in 2015, to say that I as­sault­ed her teenage daugh­ter al­most 30 years ago,” Row­ley said.

He added, “Then there were the Mooni­lal ban­ners in south Trinidad mak­ing sim­i­lar claims and of course there was Ver­nel­la Al­leyne-Top­pin in the Par­lia­ment un­der the guid­ance and ap­proval of Mrs Kam­la Per­sad—Bisses­sar and Roodal Mooni­lal.”

Row­ley said whilst this lat­est be­hav­iour of this for­mer UNC can­di­date/ con­vict should out­rage every de­cent, right think­ing cit­i­zen “just re­mem­ber it is no ac­ci­dent or mad­ness.”

“It is all part of a das­tard­ly plan con­stant­ly be­ing put to work by a group of cit­i­zens who care about on­ly them­selves and don’t give a hoot whom they de­stroy in their quest for po­lit­i­cal pow­er. This is to be con­demned and the ar­chi­tects should be cen­sored,” he added.

He al­so said, “I trust that giv­en the lev­el of in­de­cen­cy and bold­faced­ness that the rel­e­vant au­thor­i­ty could come to the aid of these par­ents and cer­tain­ly pro­tect this in­no­cent child.”

Mean­while, op­er­a­tions man­ag­er at Pow­er 102 Ruben Mo­hammed said the sta­tion is look­ing in­to what tran­spired to de­ter­mine whether any ac­tion needs to be tak­en. He said, “The sta­tion will al­ways do what is right for the sta­tion, its share­hold­ers and the au­di­ence.”
