The badly decomposed body that was found on Thursday in Maracas has been positively identified as abducted Tucker Energy Services shift supervisor Zephaniah Harripaul.
The confirmation was given by family members who attended the viewing of the body at the Forensic Science Centre on Monday..
Shunning members of the media from any comment while at the centre, Harripaul’s brother, Stephen, instead later posted on social media the following: “Good afternoon to all we have identified the body that was discovered as Zephaniah Harripaul. As a family, we thank you for your continued pray and support. As we move forward we will keep you informed. God is good all the time and all the time God is good.”
Harripaul’s employer also commented for the first time since his abduction via a release issued yesterday afternoon, saying, “Tucker Energy Services is shocked and saddened by the untimely passing of our colleague, Zephaniah Harripaul.
“Zephaniah, a valued employee of the Drilling and Completions Fluids Division since 2015, was abducted from our Chaguaramas location on 17th February 2022. His body was found on Thursday afternoon,” the release stated.
“Over the past month, Tucker Energy employees have gathered daily to pray for a positive outcome.
“We are profoundly shaken by his passing and trust that the authorities will employ all resources necessary to find justice for his family.”
“Tucker Energy Management and staff wish to express our sincere condolences to Zephaniah’s family.
“We remain in constant contact during this difficult time,” it added.
According to the Hunters Search and Rescue Team’s Valance Rambharat, the decomposing body was found 400 feet down a precipice near the Maracas Lookout. It was discovered by workers contracted to clear TTEC power lines of vegetative threats last week Thursday.
The body, police said, had been clad in a red coverall.
Harripaul, a shift supervisor at Tucker Energy Services Limited in Chaguaramas, was abducted from his place of work on February 17.
According to the official police report, at about 6 pm on February 16, Harripaul arrived at his workplace located at First Avenue, Chaguaramas, when at about 9.30 pm, a car entered the compound and the driver, whose name and description is unknown, said he was en route to collect something from someone.
The report stated that Harripaul was last seen at 2.05 am on February 17, when he told a co-worker that he was going to collect a flashlight.
About ten minutes after, a car was seen exiting the compound in convoy with Harripaul’s vehicle, a silver-grey Tucson. The security guard motioned for the vehicles to stop and an unknown man was then seen exiting Harripaul’s vehicle and entering into the suspects’ vehicle, which sped away from the compound.
No ransom was ever made.
