More than a week af­ter bomb threats to sev­er­al build­ings, in­clud­ing courts and a shop­ping plaza, trig­gered evac­u­a­tions and a wide­spread mo­bil­i­sa­tion of se­cu­ri­ty re­sources, po­lice say the mat­ter re­mains un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

Last week, Home­land Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter Roger Alexan­der said an ar­rest was “im­mi­nent” as var­i­ous arms of the TTPS con­tin­ued their en­quiries. How­ev­er, he re­fused to di­vulge fur­ther in­for­ma­tion, cit­ing the sen­si­tive na­ture of the in­ves­ti­ga­tion and con­cerns that dis­clo­sure could alert sus­pects.

Re­spond­ing to Guardian Me­dia’s ques­tions dur­ing yes­ter­day’s week­ly TTPS me­dia brief­ing, TTPS Pub­lic In­for­ma­tion Of­fi­cer ASP Owie Rus­sell said the mat­ter was still re­ceiv­ing the po­lice’s at­ten­tion.

“It is ac­tive­ly be­ing pur­sued through col­lab­o­ra­tive ef­fort be­tween the Spe­cial Branch and the Cy­ber Crime Unit and we will up­date the pub­lic in the short­est pos­si­ble time, but no one has been ar­rest­ed as yet.”

Un­der Sec­tion 21 of the An­ti-Ter­ror­ism Act, a per­son who com­mu­ni­cates a bomb threat is li­able, up­on con­vic­tion, to im­pris­on­ment for life.
