A 16-year-old La Hor­quet­ta boy is in sta­ble con­di­tion af­ter be­ing shot in a dri­ve-by shoot­ing in­ci­dent, on Wednes­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said the boy was stand­ing on the cor­ner of Lystra Lewis Street, Phase Four, around 12:30 pm, when a Nis­san Almera drove next to him.

Gun­men in the car shot the teen sev­er­al times be­fore dri­ving off.

The boy ran home, and his fa­ther took him to the Ari­ma hos­pi­tal in his maxi taxi.

The boy was treat­ed for sev­er­al gun­shots to his low­er back and trans­ferred to an­oth­er hos­pi­tal.

Of­fi­cers of the North­ern Di­vi­sion Emer­gency Re­sponse Pa­trol were called in and found the get­away car aban­doned near­by.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors found six spent 9-mil­lime­tre shells at the scene.
