Two weeks after an attempt on the life of a San Fernando businessman’s daughter, a 21-year-old employee of a car dealership linked to R&J Cell Tech was shot and killed earlier today. The victim, Salim Abdool, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was undergoing emergency surgery but later died.

Around 1 p.m., he was driving a Toyota Hilux behind another company vehicle along the Golconda Connector Road when, near the VMCOTT intersection, another vehicle pulled alongside and opened fire.

On May 13, the businessman’s daughter was targeted while driving her Range Rover along the South Trunk Road. A Nissan B14 struck her vehicle near the Cross Crossing Interchange, then pulled up beside her. The driver opened the front passenger door and fired two shots. She was unharmed and drove to the police station.

Her father, Rabindranath Maharaj, said he believed it was an attempt on her life, though he was unsure why his family continued to be targeted. He recalled his son’s kidnapping, two attempted kidnappings of another daughter, and at least 14 robberies.

San Fernando police are continuing investigations.
