Five British Virgin Islanders living in the United States are among more than 1.4 million people targeted for deportation under the current immigration crackdown.
This is according to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) November 2024 Deportation List, which was recently released.
The list titled, “Non-citizens on the ICE Non-detained Docket with Final Orders of Removal by Citizenship”, details the number of individuals from various countries who face deportation orders in the U.S.
“As of November 24, 2024, there are 1,445,549 non-citizens on ICE’s non-detained docket with final orders of removal,” the document stated.
While ICE has not disclosed case-specific reasons preventing the immediate removal of certain individuals, the agency cited various factors, including legal relief from deportation.
Additionally, 15 countries have been classified as uncooperative in accepting deported nationals, while 11 others are at risk of non-compliance. —TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands (CMC)
