The end of an era and con­tin­u­a­tion of a lega­cy is how Gar­ry Sin­clair’s re­tire­ment from Ca­ble and Wire­less Com­mu­ni­ca­tions is be­ing dubbed. Gar­ry is known across the re­gion for his ex­per­tise, ex­pe­ri­ence and pas­sion for cus­tomers.

A state­ment from the com­pa­ny quot­ed Inge Smidts, Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer of CWC as say­ing: “Gar­ry is a great leader and has achieved leg­end sta­tus through­out C&W. Many of you know him as ‘The Cap­tain’ with his pen­chant for di­rect com­mu­ni­ca­tion or straight talk, no chas­er as he puts it. I have come to know him as a kind and sup­port­ive team-mate, and some­one I could de­pend on. I am ho­n­oured to have had Gar­ry on my lead­er­ship team and to have been a part of his jour­ney.”

Sin­clair, a Ja­maican na­tion­al, leaves with over 25 years’ ex­pe­ri­ence in de­vel­op­ing growth op­por­tu­ni­ties and trans­for­ma­tion in or­gan­i­sa­tions across the re­gion.

Among the roles he held at CWC dur­ing his tenure were pres­i­dent – Caribbean; CEO, Ba­hamas Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions Com­pa­ny (BTC); CEO, Ca­ble & Wire­less Ja­maica.

In his role as pres­i­dent and COO of in­vest­ment bank Dehring Bunting & Gold­ing, Sin­clair grew a start-up busi­ness to be key play­er in the Caribbean fi­nan­cial ser­vices in­dus­try.

As the CEO of Ca­ble & Wire­less Ja­maica, he has suc­cess­ful­ly led the op­er­a­tion’s trans­for­ma­tion, grow­ing the mo­bile sub­scriber base from two hun­dred thou­sand to al­most one mil­lion cus­tomers, as well as lead­ing the com­pa­ny’s 800+ em­ploy­ees through the in­te­gra­tion of the Colum­bus and C&W busi­ness­es to be­come the coun­try’s lead­ing con­verged tele­coms op­er­a­tor.

In ad­di­tion, his range of Board ap­point­ments in­clud­ing fi­nan­cial in­sti­tu­tions, youth em­pow­er­ment and the Ja­maica Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion demon­strates Sin­clair’s lead­er­ship ex­pe­ri­ence and pas­sion for Caribbean de­vel­op­ment, qual­i­ties key to C&W’s de­vel­op­ment and growth across the Caribbean.
