Of­fi­cers of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice have de­stroyed a cannabis plan­ta­tion dur­ing a tar­get­ed an­ti-crime ex­er­cise un­der Op­er­a­tion Tri­dent (West End) in the West­ern Di­vi­sion.

In a me­dia re­lease yes­ter­day, the TTPS said be­tween 11 am and 2.30 pm on Sun­day, Jan­u­ary 4, of­fi­cers act­ing on in­for­ma­tion pro­ceed­ed on foot along a track off Sa­landy Street, Diego Mar­tin, cov­er­ing ap­prox­i­mate­ly one mile of steep ter­rain.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers dis­cov­ered a plan­ta­tion with around 200 ful­ly grown and ju­ve­nile cannabis plants.

The plants were up­root­ed and de­stroyed by fire.

The op­er­a­tion in­volved of­fi­cers from the West­ern Di­vi­sion Gang In­tel­li­gence Unit, West End Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment, and the West End Charge Room. It was sanc­tioned by Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Williams and led by Su­per­in­ten­dent Gyan and W/As­sis­tant Su­per­in­ten­dent Aguellera.

Co­or­di­na­tion was pro­vid­ed by In­spec­tors Grant and Per­ry, with su­per­vi­sion from Cor­po­rals Gar­cia, Khan, and Act­ing Cor­po­ral Joseph, along­side a team of ded­i­cat­ed of­fi­cers.
