Wind damage was reported in parts of Bonne Aventure, Gasparillo, South Trinidad following an isolated strong thunderstorm.
Shortly after midday, a strong thunderstorm began producing torrential rainfall and strong wind gusts in Bonne Aventure, with videos circulating on social media of tree branches falling on the compound of the Gasparillo Secondary School onto a vehicle.
According to the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation (CTTRC), Ryan Rampersad, strong winds swept across the Bonne Aventure area in the vicinity of Gasparillo Secondary School to Surprise Avenue, downing trees and causing roof damage, with one vehicle, belonging to a teacher, crushed by a falling tree on the compound of the school.
He said that CTTRC’s Disaster Management Unit was mobilized and are en route to the area to break down and remove the branches, an exercise he expected to be completed later today or early tomorrow.
