Carapichaima man charged with fraud granted $250,000 bail

Im­raz Mo­hammed was grant­ed bail for $250,000 when he ap­peared vir­tu­al­ly be­fore Port of Spain Mag­is­trate Mag­is­trate In­dar Ja­groo charged with four counts of fraud yes­ter­day. He was al­so or­dered to pay com­pen­sa­tion on a charge of lar­ce­ny.

Mo­hammed, 32, of Bank Vil­lage Cara­pichaima was charged on March 23rd on three counts of ob­tain­ing prop­er­ty by use of dis­hon­oured cheques, and one count of fraud­u­lent­ly ob­tain­ing cred­it.The mat­ter was trans­ferred to the Ch­agua­nas Mag­is­trates’ Court on Fri­day 26th March, 2021.

On the charge of lar­ce­ny, the ac­cused was placed on a bond in the sum of $3,000 and or­dered to keep the peace and be of good be­hav­ior for a pe­ri­od of two years. In de­fault, he would have to reap­pear be­fore the court to be sen­tenced. He was al­so or­dered to pay com­pen­sa­tion to the vic­tim in the­be­hav­iour$3,500 with­in one month, and if he fails to com­ply, he would face six weeks’ sim­ple im­pris­on­ment
