Police are investigating the sudden death of a four-week-old baby at his Caratal home on Sunday morning.
The baby's father, Natan Mohammed, 23, told police that around 10:30pm on Saturday, his 18-year-old common-law wife fed their son and placed him on a bed at their home to sleep. The parents slept on the same bed, with a pillow to barricade the baby.
Some time later, around 3:20 am, the couple discovered their baby was unresponsive.
They called an ambulance, and the baby was conveyed to the San Fernando General Hospital, where doctors tried to resuscitate him. He was pronounced dead at 4:46 am.
An autopsy is expected to be done this week.
PC Parbhu of the St Margaret’s Police Station is investigating.
