Po­lice be­lieve a man, who passers­by thought was sleep­ing in his car, was beat­en, stabbed and left for dead in his ve­hi­cle.

Of­fi­cers iden­ti­fied the man as By­ron Ma­haraj, 53, of La Soli­ta Road, Kel­ly Vil­lage, Ca­roni. He was found seat­ed in his car, with sev­er­al stab wounds about the body.

Po­lice said the vic­tim was found by peo­ple who went to check on him af­ter they ob­served the car had been parked along the road near Mam­bo’s Bar, South Bank Road, Kel­ly Vil­lage, Ca­roni.

It was ini­tial­ly thought that Ma­haraj had been asleep in the car, and it was on­ly up­on check­ing that he was dis­cov­ered dead with sev­er­al stab wounds about the body.

Ma­haraj was re­port­ed­ly en­gaged in an al­ter­ca­tion with two men at the bar on Sun­day night, fol­low­ing which he re­port­ed­ly stum­bled out and got in­to his car.

Guardian Me­dia was told that CCTV footage showed two men ap­proach­ing Ma­haraj’s car, fol­low­ing which they were seen beat­ing him.

One of the sus­pects ap­peared to be hold­ing a knife.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said an ar­rest was im­mi­nent.
