The Water and Sewerage Authority has confirmed that the Caroni Water Treatment Plant has been restarted, following completion of necessary repair works at the facility.
A WASA advisory issued today notes that the facility was restarted at about 9:00 p.m. on Thursday November 5, 2020.
“The associated transmission and distribution systems are being gradually re-pressurized in keeping normal operating procedures following a shutdown of this nature,” the WASA statement explains.
The Authority is reminding customers in parts of North, Central and South Trinidad, who were affected by the shutdown—which was necessary for the repair works—that it may take up to 48 hours for the pipe borne water supply to normalize to some areas in keeping with established water supply schedules.
“The Authority is also engaged in system flushing exercises in various areas in order to minimize any discoloured supply,” WASA says. “However, customers who may experience discolouration in their supply should allow same to flow until it clears.”
WASA is encouraging its customers in need of further information or assistance to contact the Customer Call Centre toll free at 800-4420 and 800-4426.
