The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) says the first UNFCCC Climate Week of 2025, which was held from May 19–23 in Panama City, marked "a pivotal step in global climate action" aiming to bridge policy decisions with tangible, on the ground implementation.

The CCCCC's delegation engaged in high-level dialogues, capacity-building sessions, and collaborative forums focused on implementable and investable NDCs.

The key engagements focused on translating climate policies into actionable strategies, emphasising the unique challenges and solutions pertinent to Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

The NDC Clinic focused on enhancing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The CCCCC says it shared insights into regional approaches to achieving ambitious climate targets and highlighted the Caribbean's rich biodiversity while promoting nature-based solutions, integrating ecosystem services into climate planning for investment and engaging the private sector.

Executive Director of the UNFCCC, Simon Stiell, highlighted that each country's nationally determined contribution will serve as the

economic blueprint for prosperity. Through the Implementation Forum, he called on the Country Parties to support each other in unlocking progress across three pillars: finance, technology, and carbon markets.

Dr. Colin Young, Executive Director of the CCCCC, stated, "Our participation in this inaugural Climate Week of 2025 underscores the CCCCC’s continued commitment to amplify the voices of our member states, share best practices, and forge partnerships that will drive transformative change across our region.

Now more than ever before, Small Island Developing States need the means of implementation to turn NDCs from aspirational goals into climate-resilient actions that will save lives and livelihoods of our people and allow our people to realize our full potential. This Climate Weeks allows to communicate the fierce urgency of now, followed by concrete actions on the ground."

The UNFCCC Climate Week is a strategic platform to align intergovernmental processes with on the-ground implementation, fostering collaboration among Parties, non-Party stakeholders, and various sectors.
