Charges laid against men in the case of beheaded Siparia woman

An un­cle and nephew have been charged with the mur­der of Joanne Estick, a Siparia woman whose sev­ered head was found in a cool­er.

On March 13, of­fi­cers in the Siparia dis­trict re­spond­ed to a re­port of a hu­man head be­ing dis­cov­ered in a bag in a drain at Sen­non Vil­lage. The vic­tim, 60, of Siparia, was last seen walk­ing along the road­way the day be­fore.

One male sus­pect was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the mat­ter on March 25 while the sec­ond was de­tained on March 31.

Michael Ed­wards, 44, of Corinth Vil­lage, San Fer­nan­do, was charged with the of­fence on April 2, while his co-ac­cused, and nephew, Ryan Ed­wards, aka ‘Gangy’, of Sen­non Vil­lage, Siparia, was charged the fol­low­ing day.

The Suf­fi­cien­cy Hear­ing date for both men has been set for Oc­to­ber 6.

Estick's body is yet to be found.
