The Chil­dren’s Au­thor­i­ty says since its op­er­a­tional­i­sa­tion, there have been two in­stances of girls who be­came preg­nant while they were res­i­dents of chil­dren’s homes.

And dur­ing their in­ves­ti­ga­tion, it was de­ter­mined that no staff mem­ber was re­spon­si­ble for the girls be­com­ing preg­nant.

The Chil­dren's Au­thor­i­ty's clar­i­fi­ca­tion came af­ter mem­ber of par­lia­ment for Princes Town Bar­ry Padarath Spoke about it dur­ing the UNC's week­ly press con­fer­ence.

Padarath said they will get the in­for­ma­tion on how many girls were im­preg­nat­ed, what be­came of the ba­bies, teenage moth­ers and those re­spon­si­ble for the preg­nan­cies.

Well au­thor­i­ty said the chil­dren were al­ready preg­nant when they were placed at a home specif­i­cal­ly des­ig­nat­ed for preg­nant teens.

And the mat­ters were re­port­ed to the po­lice, who are con­duct­ing their in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
