Canadian YouTuber Christopher “Chris Must List” Hughes has not left T&T and most likely will not until his court hearing in August.
In a video posted on social media, Hughes said he was hoping to return home to see his wife and kids but disclosed that he would be in T&T until his court matter, which is expected to be heard around August 23.
Hughes had initially said he planned to return home yesterday. However, he said his passport had not yet been returned to him. He said he would continue to do what he came here to do, which is to make videos and upload them to his social media accounts.
He also assured that he will fight for his freedom.
Hughes was detained last month and eventually charged with sedition following the release of videos showing men in the country who professed to be in gangs.
Hughes has pleaded not guilty and is currently out on $100,000 bail.
Following Hughes’ arrest, police arrested seven men on Thursday morning in connection with gang-related activities.
It is suspected that the men are the men in Hughes’ videos who were allegedly seen brandishing firearms.
Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds confirmed the latest arrests to the media on Thursday during a prime-time morning television talk show.
