The Trinidad and To­ba­go Coast Guard (TTCG) says of­fi­cers in­ter­cept­ed an un­reg­is­tered ves­sel car­ry­ing a num­ber of un­doc­u­ment­ed for­eign na­tion­als that had crossed the Trinidad/Venezuela In­ter­na­tion­al Mar­itime Bor­der.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred around 9:43 am, when the ves­sel was first ob­served south­east of Is­lote Point on the South coast of Trinidad.

The TTCG of­fi­cers were able to de­tain the ves­sel af­ter a short pur­suit.

A state­ment from the Coast Guard re­ports: 

"On­board were 27 un­doc­u­ment­ed for­eign na­tion­als com­pris­ing: 16 adult males, eight adult fe­males, and three male mi­nors. The per­sons and the ves­sel were tak­en in tow and es­cort­ed to the TTCG’s Head­quar­ters in Staubles Bay, Ch­aguara­mas. The Im­mi­gra­tion Di­vi­sion and Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice were in­formed. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing."
