A Coast Guard officer was found dead in his car at Staubles Bay, Chaguaramas, on Friday morning. He was identified as Kristian Davis, 35, of Flamboyant Crescent, Valencia Gardens.
He had been employed as a cook with the T&T Coast Guard for the past 15 years. Reports indicate Davis had failed to report for the daily muster and calls to his cell phone went unanswered.
As officers carried out a check for Davis’ Nissan Almera at the base around 10 am, he was spotted sitting upright in the driver’s seat but unresponsive.
He was found clad in a blue t-shirt marked Coast Guard, long navy blue tactical pants, and one sock on his left foot. His body reportedly bore no marks of violence. Davis’s body was removed by two officers to the medical room where efforts were made to resuscitate him by a doctor attached to the Coast Guard Headquarters, but this proved futile.
He was officially pronounced dead at 12:32 pm.
His body was later removed to a funeral home and an autopsy is expected to be conducted at the Forensic Science Centre, St James tomorrow, to determine the cause of death.
