A 25-year-old man from Waterhole, Cocorite, has been arrested and charged in connection with a report of robbery with violence in the Western Division that occurred last year.
The man was charged on January 6 in connection with an incident that took place on September 21, 2024.
According to police reports, the victim withdrew cash at an ATM and was returning to her vehicle when she was confronted by two men seated in a white Nissan Note, parked alongside her vehicle.
The release added that while still inside the car, the men attempted to pull the victim's handbag into their vehicle. The men snatched the handbag, which contained $1,100 in cash, an RBC credit card, an RBC bank card, reading glasses valued at $2,000, a cellular phone valued at $900, a cheque book, and a notebook.
The suspects then pushed the woman to the ground, causing injury to her right leg, before escaping.
Following an investigation, the man from Cocorite was positively identified as a suspect.
On January 5, Legal Officer Sgt. Jeanville advised that the suspect be charged with the offence of robbery with violence.
