Cocorite man charged for robbery with violence

A 25-year-old man from Wa­ter­hole, Co­corite, has been ar­rest­ed and charged in con­nec­tion with a re­port of rob­bery with vi­o­lence in the West­ern Di­vi­sion that oc­curred last year.

The man was charged on Jan­u­ary 6 in con­nec­tion with an in­ci­dent that took place on Sep­tem­ber 21, 2024.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, the vic­tim with­drew cash at an ATM and was re­turn­ing to her ve­hi­cle when she was con­front­ed by two men seat­ed in a white Nis­san Note, parked along­side her ve­hi­cle.

The re­lease added that while still in­side the car, the men at­tempt­ed to pull the vic­tim's hand­bag in­to their ve­hi­cle. The men snatched the hand­bag, which con­tained $1,100 in cash, an RBC cred­it card, an RBC bank card, read­ing glass­es val­ued at $2,000, a cel­lu­lar phone val­ued at $900, a cheque book, and a note­book.

The sus­pects then pushed the woman to the ground, caus­ing in­jury to her right leg, be­fore es­cap­ing.

Fol­low­ing an in­ves­ti­ga­tion, the man from Co­corite was pos­i­tive­ly iden­ti­fied as a sus­pect.

On Jan­u­ary 5, Le­gal Of­fi­cer Sgt. Jeanville ad­vised that the sus­pect be charged with the of­fence of rob­bery with vi­o­lence.
