A Co­corite man, who had on­ly re­turned to the coun­try last week af­ter spend­ing time abroad with rel­a­tives, was killed by gun­men on Wednes­day night as he got ready for bed.

Je­lani “Jel­lo” Wor­rell was gunned down around 2 am on Jan­u­ary 25, at Ratch­et Hill.

The 38-year-old painter was at home alone when res­i­dents re­port­ed hear­ing a sin­gle gun­shot, on Wednes­day night. The vic­tim’s body was found by his 46-year old cousin who went to check on him af­ter be­ing un­able to reach him all day. He was ly­ing in a pool of blood, clad on­ly in a pair of box­ers and ap­peared to have been shot in the head.

This killing, along with an­oth­er fa­tal shoot­ing in Debe, pushed the mur­der toll to 45 for the year so far.
