Fi­nance Min­is­ter Colm Im­bert has an­nounced that an ex­ten­sion to the dead­line for the pay­ment of prop­er­ty tax will be an­nounced next week.

Im­bert made the rev­e­la­tion in the Par­lia­ment this af­ter­noon.

"Con­sid­er­a­tion is be­ing giv­en to an ex­ten­sion of time and on Mon­day the ex­tend­ed date will be an­nounced," he said.

The Min­is­ter al­so clar­i­fied that the pro­ce­dures for the pay­ment of prop­er­ty tax are not lim­it­ed to cash. He said peo­ple can pay by per­son­al cheques, man­agers' cheques and Linx ( BIR head of­fice in Port of Spain and re­gion­al of­fice in San Fer­nan­do).

He al­so said by the end of Oc­to­ber the BIR (Board of In­land Rev­enue) will be able to ac­cept pay­ments by ACH bank trans­fers and cred­it cards.
