An Ocelot was found by the po­lice at the Cas­cade home of a 26-year-old man on Mon­day.

Of­fi­cers of the Four Roads Po­lice Sta­tion re­port­ed­ly found the an­i­mal in a cage around mid­day af­ter they ex­e­cut­ed a search war­rant at the premis­es at First Av­enue.

The cat is en­dan­gered and al­so an En­vi­ron­men­tal­ly Sen­si­tive Species (ESS).

The man did not have a per­mit to keep the an­i­mal in cap­tiv­i­ty.

Po­lice said he he claimed that the ocelot was in­jured and he res­cued it from a drain in St. Clair.

The po­lice con­tact­ed game war­dens and the ocelot was placed in the care of the Em­per­or Val­ley Zoo.

Po­lice said they are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to his claim that he res­cued the ocelot.

The of­fences car­ries a fine of $100,000 and im­pris­on­ment for two years.

The man, how­ev­er, was charged with mar­i­jua­na pos­ses­sion.
