An altercation is believed to have led to the murder of a 52-year-old Arouca man, who was found in some bushes tied up and with a bullet wound to the head, on Wednesday night.
The victim has been identified as Larry Jordan of St John Road, Arouca.
According to a police report, at about 10:40 pm, police officers responded to a report of loud explosions heard at Lp No. 19 Lopinot Road, Arouca. Upon arrival at the location, they interviewed a man who took them 1,500 feet into the bushes where they saw the Jordan's body.
The officers said that Jordan’s hands and feet were tied, a yellow piece of cloth was covering his mouth, and the body bore a gunshot wound to the head—behind his ear.
District Medical Officer Dr. Gopaul visited the scene, viewed the body, made the pronouncement and ordered its removal, pending a post-mortem at the Forensic Science Centre.
Crime scene personnel processed the scene and retrieved one 9mm spent shell casing.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Jordan had an altercation with someone, but Police officers are yet to ascertain what the altercation was about.
