Police are investigating how a two-month-old baby boy died.
The baby’s mother told police she fed her son at 9 pm on Tuesday and put him to sleep. When she checked on him more than four hours later, around 2.30 am, he was unresponsive.
The baby’s parents and grandmother took him to the Accident and Emergency Department of the San Fernando General Hospital around 3 am, but he was already dead.
Doctors told the police that the baby appeared underweight and underfed, but there were no marks of violence on his body.
Investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine how the infant died.
When Guardian Media visited the baby’s home at Embacadere, San Fernando, yesterday, his mother and grandmother declined to comment.
Officers from the San Fernando Police Station are investigating.
