Homi­cide de­tec­tives were last evening at the scene of a dou­ble mur­der in Macaulay, Clax­ton Bay.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, short­ly af­ter 5 pm, res­i­dents heard rapid gun­shots and lat­er saw a white car on the road rid­dled with bul­lets.

The res­i­dents said up­on in­ves­ti­gat­ing fur­ther, they ob­served two men slumped in the front seats of the car. A man armed with a long gun was al­so seen leav­ing the scene.

Up to press time, po­lice were still try­ing to ver­i­fy the iden­ti­ties of the mur­der vic­tims.

Res­i­dents told Guardian Me­dia that the com­mu­ni­ty was shak­en, as it was the first time in decades that some­thing like this had hap­pened.

One man was de­tained by po­lice for ques­tion­ing in re­la­tion to the in­ci­dent.
