Ste Madeleine murder
Construction worker Omesh Alan Sinanan was sitting in the gallery at his aunt’s home in Ste Madeleine on Thursday night when a gunman shot him multiple times.
When his relatives ran out they met him on the ground in blood and gasping for breath at the entrance to their apartment sometime after 8 pm
Sinanan, 20, had only minutes before arrived at the house at Belle Vue Street and was sitting on a chair in the gallery.
His aunt was inside with other relatives when she heard about seven gunshots and she realised that Sinanan got shot.
She called Sinanan’s mother who lived in the back of her house and they got to the gallery at the same time.
“He tried running inside by me but he could not make it because the amount of shots, he could not make it. It really sad, it really painful because he was a nice fella, no matter what,” she said.
Saying that in the 32 years she lived there she had never before experienced that level of violence, she said they were still shaken. Ramdoolarie Maharaj, 55, said Sinanan, the youngest of her three children, did not live with her. But, on Thursday night he ate and had a bath at her home before he went by his aunt.
She heard the explosions but she thought they were firecrackers. She said her son was lying on the ground in blood and gasping for breath. She said Sinanan never confided in her about his personal life so she had no idea why someone would want to kill him.
Valencia killing
One of the suspects arrested in the killing of a security officer was killed in Valencia yesterday.
The dead man has been identified as Jossim Assing of Palm Drive in Valencia.
Police said that Assing, of Palm Drive, Valencia, was shot multiple times by a masked man while talking to a friend at San Pablo Extension at 11.32 am.
The gunman subsequently escaped. Assing died on the scene.
Assing, police said, was linked to several robberies and was a suspect in the murder of security officer Kimraj Jagessar in October 2021 but was never charged with the crime.
Police are also investigating the shooting death of Kory Benjamin at 4am in Tunapuna yesterday.
