Police are investigating the suspected kidnapping of a 30-year-old woman from Chase Village.
Police said around 1.15 pm on Saturday, a man went to Freeport Police Station to report that his girlfriend Aliyah Kissoon, of Ojar Road, Chase Village, had been kidnapped.
The 33-year-old man from Moka, Maraval, claimed that around 8.15 pm on Friday, Kissoon called him and told him she was leaving home to purchase fast food.
He claimed that he later received a call from her cellphone and a man spoke when he answered.
He claimed that the man told him, “We have your girlfriend,” before hanging up.
He claimed that 10 minutes later, he received a call from the same caller, who used a different cellphone. The man reportedly told him, “We have your girlfriend and we want $3.5 million for her. If you don’t believe us, check and you will find her car in Mt Hope carpark,” before ending the call.
He claimed that he went to her home before making the report and did not find her there.
Police officers went to the carpark at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope where they found Kissoon’s Toyota Axio parked.
The officers checked with hospital officials, who confirmed that she had not been admitted for medical treatment.
Detectives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) were continuing investigations up to late yesterday.
