Po­lice are work­ing on the the­o­ry that Mrs In­dia World­wide pageant con­tes­tant and reg­is­tered nurse Sad­na Gan­goo led a dou­ble life—work­ing both as a nurse at the Princes Town Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty and as a pro­duc­er of adult porno­graph­ic videos. They sus­pect this se­cret “pro­fes­sion” could have a con­nec­tion to her killing.

Yes­ter­day, po­lice re­vealed that Gan­goo’s mur­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion had tak­en a shock­ing turn, as sev­er­al peo­ple star­ring in the adult videos were ex­pect­ed to be ques­tioned in re­la­tion to the case.

Gan­goo, 44, a moth­er of one and grand­moth­er of two, was bru­tal­ly gunned down around 4.30 pm out­side the Princes Town Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty on Wednes­day, as she walked to her parked BMW on Cir­cu­lar Road. She suf­fered a fa­tal bul­let wound to the back of her head. The shoot­er re­mains at large hav­ing es­caped in a wait­ing Nis­san Ti­i­da car along the Na­pari­ma/Ma­yaro Road.

Speak­ing to Guardian Me­dia, a po­lice of­fi­cial—who asked not to be named—dis­closed that Gan­goo had been se­cret­ly in­volved in pro­duc­ing ex­plic­it con­tent fea­tur­ing mul­ti­ple men and women over the past few years. One of these videos shared on­line, the of­fi­cial said could pro­vide an­swers about her mur­der.

Just days be­fore her killing, the po­lice of­fi­cial said Gan­goo had de­liv­ered a le­gal sum­mons to a man, threat­en­ing ac­tion over the in­tend­ed re­lease of these videos, which would have jeop­ar­dised her chances in the pageant. On Sun­day, Gan­goo par­tic­i­pat­ed in the tal­ent seg­ment of the Mrs In­dia World­wide com­pe­ti­tion, as the Princes Town del­e­gate, at the South­ern Acad­e­my for the Per­form­ing Arts.

The po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tion al­so re­vealed that sev­er­al of Gan­goo’s rel­a­tives, who were un­aware of her clan­des­tine ac­tiv­i­ties, are now liv­ing in fear. They have sought po­lice pro­tec­tion, ter­ri­fied that they too might be tar­get­ed. Close rel­a­tives have de­clined to com­ment.

A source, who asked not to be named, said Gan­goo’s dou­ble life had sent rip­ples of shock among her fam­i­ly mem­bers. The source men­tioned that Gan­goo’s sec­ond hus­band, Kevin Gan­goo, 32, died on Sep­tem­ber 1, 2019, af­ter falling out of a maxi taxi, and her life was nev­er the same.

In a trib­ute to Kevin, Sad­na wrote: “My hus­band and I were very close. I am hav­ing a very dif­fi­cult time cop­ing with this sit­u­a­tion. I have faith that one day I will be with him again. It was a sud­den death. It has been a hard strug­gle thus far even though peo­ple would say that as time goes by, it would get eas­i­er to cope.”

The source added that Gan­goo owned two hous­es and was al­ways help­ful and kind to every­one. Orig­i­nal­ly from Buen In­ten­to, her first mar­riage end­ed in di­vorce, but she re­mained friends with her ex-hus­band.

She got preg­nant at age 16 and had her first and on­ly child, with whom she shared a close bond.

De­spite her hum­ble back­ground, Gan­goo worked hard to get her ed­u­ca­tion, at­tain­ing a BSN (Hons) in Ad­min­is­tra­tion at the Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies, St Au­gus­tine, as well as an ADN As­so­ciate De­gree in Nurs­ing at the Col­lege of Sci­ence, Tech­nol­o­gy, and Ap­plied Arts of T&T. She al­so stud­ied Risk Man­age­ment at Shadrack Safe­ty In­sti­tute, Oc­cu­pa­tion­al Health and Safe­ty, and Man­age­ment of Health and Safe­ty at The Na­tion­al Ex­am­i­na­tion Board in Oc­cu­pa­tion­al Safe­ty and Health (NE­BOSH).

Po­lice are now ask­ing for the pub­lic’s help in ap­pre­hend­ing her killer.

Se­nior homi­cide de­tec­tives, in­clud­ing Se­nior Supt of Homi­cide Sean Dhilpaul, As­sis­tant Supt Anil Ma­haraj, and Su­per­in­ten­dent Steve Per­sad from the Homi­cide Bu­reau are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the mur­der.
