Two men were killed in Arima on Wednesday night.
They have been identified as Twyla Peterson, 31, of Blanchisseuse Road, Arima; and Christopher Brandon DeLeon, 28, of Wattley Circular, Mt Pleasant Road, Arima.
Police said the two were at an abandoned house at Mt Pleasant Road around 7.28 pm when loud explosions were heard. They were reportedly accosted by two armed men.
Officers arrived and found Peterson’s body on the side of the road.
DeLeon’s body was found a short distance away. He reportedly attempted to escape on a bicycle. He had been shot in the head.
Police said among the evidence they collected at the scene were five spent shells, one camouflage kit consisting of a jacket and pants, and one knife.
And in a separate shooting incident at Savannah Trace, Arima Old Road, a 34-year-old man, of Harper Street, Reid Lane, D’Abadie, was shot four times in the legs as he walked home.
The victim was said to have been ambushed by six armed men around 8.25 pm.
Passersby, who alerted police, found the victim with three gunshot wounds to the right thigh and one to the left thigh.
He was taken to the Arima Health Facility. He was treated and warded in a stable condition.
Investigations are continuing into both incidents.
