Po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tors will be seek­ing ad­vice from the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions on what charges, if any, would be laid against a man who re­port­ed­ly as­sault­ed a woman at a taxi stand in Tu­na­puna last week.

In a video cir­cu­lat­ed on so­cial me­dia last week, the man was seen beat­ing the woman at a street off the East­ern Main Road.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said based on ini­tial in­for­ma­tion, the woman con­front­ed the man at the taxi stand, where she ac­cused him of not pay­ing child sup­port.

An ar­gu­ment en­sued, and the man struck the woman sev­er­al times, in­jur­ing her.

The man in­jured him­self dur­ing the as­sault.

Po­lice said both the man and woman were tak­en to the hos­pi­tal; how­ev­er, nei­ther of them was ar­rest­ed as en­quiries were still on­go­ing up to Mon­day morn­ing.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said a file com­pris­ing the ev­i­dence would be com­piled as fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tions are un­der­way.
