An early morning argument between two cousins in Barataria on Saturday morning led to both men being hospitalised after they stabbed and chopped each other.
Police said the fracas began when one of the men, was asleep at the family's Ninth Street, home at around 5.30 am when he heard his relative cursing and shouting outside.
As he confronted his cousin over the commotion, he told police he was chopped by him with a cutlass on his right shoulder.
The wounded man pulled out a knife and stabbed his cousin several times in the chest and back as they struggled over the weapon.
Other relatives heard the commotion and took both men to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC).
Police said both men were in stable condition as of Sunday morning.
