A Cou­va man was killed af­ter his ve­hi­cle slammed in­to a garbage truck late Sun­day night. The de­ceased was iden­ti­fied as 44-year-old Ter­rance Ali of Per­se­ver­ance Vil­lage, Cou­va. Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, the dri­ver of the garbage truck was col­lect­ing trash along the South­ern Main Road in Mc Bean, Cou­va, near Din­di­al’s Stock­pile, around 11.15 pm when the in­ci­dent oc­curred. The truck dri­ver told po­lice that he had stopped to pick up garbage when he sud­den­ly felt an im­pact at the rear of the ve­hi­cle. Up­on check­ing, he dis­cov­ered that a gold Nis­san Almera had crashed in­to the back of the truck. The car’s dri­ver, lat­er iden­ti­fied as Ali, ap­peared un­re­spon­sive. Emer­gency ser­vices were con­tact­ed, and Ali was tak­en to the Cou­va Health Fa­cil­i­ty, where he was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival. Con­sta­ble Kussie is con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
