Member of Parliament for Couva North Rudranath Indarsingh has congratulated Kamla Persad-Bissessar on her victory in yesterday's internal elections. He also congratulated the Star Team on a resounding victory for their slate in winning their bid for the respective roles on our party's Executive.
The following is a press release from MP Rudranath Indarsingh:

Today, I congratulate the Honourable Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar on her victory at yesterday's internal polls, resulting in her retaining the post of Political Leader of our great party, the United National Congress.I also wish to congratulate members of the Star Team on a resounding victory for their slate in winning their bid for the respective roles on our party's Executive.

I also wish to congratulate Dr. Fuad Khan, Dr. Glenn Ramadharsingh and Mrs. Ramona Ramdial on their sportsmanship as opposing candidates, and for their resounding belief in our Party which led them to contest their posts respectively. But most of all, I wish to congratulate the 13,000 UNC members who braved rains, lightning and thunder to stand with their party and vote in yesterday's internal election.

In a culture where political complacency is peddled as the norm, these UNC members changed the narrative to show the strength of their resolve and the strength of our party. Such resolve and dedication is critical as the country moves closer towards a local government election and towards answering the call to remove the PNM from office.

My admiration and gratitude goes out to the voters in Couva South, who have consistently heeded the UNC's calls over the years. Couva South continues to be a pillar of the UNC because of the commitment and resolve of our office staff, our Chairman and members of the constituency executive, our party arms, councillors and, most importantly, our members and supporters.

Party arms and constituency executives across the country must also be congratulated for their valiant effort in braving the weathers and to push towards the polls. It was clear that although on the outside the skies were full of thunder and rain, within our hearts the rising sun shone brightly and beautifully, fueling our determination to stand with our party and heed the call of our now incumbent Political Leader.

May the rising sun continue to shine, and shine ever brighter, as we strengthen the UNC day by day, and as we fight to put Trinidad and Tobago back on a road of peace, bread and justice for all.
