COVID death toll inching closer to 3,000 with another 25 lives lost

The na­tion­al death toll for COVID-19 is inch­ing clos­er to 3,000 as the Min­istry of Health record­ed 25 more deaths from the dis­ease to­day, Mon­day 27 De­cem­ber 2021.  As of to­day, the na­tion­al death toll now stands at 2,793 lives lost.

In ad­di­tion, for the first time in a cou­ple of weeks, the Min­istry not­ed a sig­nif­i­cant drop in new in­fec­tions which has been in the high hun­dreds for sev­er­al days. To­day, the Min­istry’s re­port doc­u­ments 175 new in­fec­tions, based on sam­ples tak­en be­tween De­cem­ber 23rd and 26th.

The num­ber of ac­tive cas­es of COVID-19 in the coun­try, at this time, now stands at 16,723.
