CPO meets with new TTUTA executive

Chief Per­son­nel Of­fi­cer (CPO) Com­man­der Dr. Daryl Din­di­al has met with and con­grat­u­lat­ed the new­ly elect­ed of­fi­cials of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Uni­fied Teach­ers As­so­ci­a­tion (TTUTA) ex­ec­u­tive.

A state­ment said he met with the new ex­ec­u­tive ear­li­er this week as part of a cour­tesy vis­it to al­low for in­tro­duc­tions and ex­changes.

The state­ment said com­ing out of the meet­ing, Din­di­al took the op­por­tu­ni­ty to pro­vide sta­tus up­dates he re­ceived from the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion on sev­er­al is­sues, some of which in­clud­ed the pay­ment of out­stand­ing in­cre­ments for teach­ers, clas­si­fi­ca­tion of ex­tend­ed sick leave, and is­sues sur­round­ing tran­si­tion­al arrange­ments and the as­sess­ment of qual­i­fi­ca­tions.

It said the meet­ing was very cor­dial and both par­ties in­di­cat­ed a com­mit­ment to con­tin­ue di­a­logue on those mat­ters.

Fur­ther, the mat­ters have al­so been placed be­fore the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion for their in­put, in­ter­ven­tion, and res­o­lu­tion.

There was an agree­ment to con­tin­ue meet­ing at least once per term to as­sist in re­solv­ing is­sues af­fect­ing the terms and con­di­tions of our na­tion’s ed­u­ca­tors.

The CPO said he al­so ac­knowl­edged the con­tri­bu­tion of the for­mer pres­i­dent of TTUTA An­toina Tekah-De­Fre­itas.

He said he re­called her pas­sion, per­sis­tence, and ad­vo­ca­cy for im­prov­ing the man­age­ment of is­sues, the terms and con­di­tions of em­ploy­ment of teach­ers and wished her con­tin­ued suc­cess in her fu­ture en­deav­ours.

Ad­di­tion­al­ly, Din­di­al said he recog­nised the ded­i­ca­tion, com­mit­ment, and pro­fes­sion­al­ism "that our na­tion’s teach­ers of­ten demon­strate, and ex­press­es his pro­found grat­i­tude to them for their con­tin­ued ser­vice in shap­ing the hearts and minds of the up­com­ing gen­er­a­tions."

Din­di­al is ex­pect­ed to con­tin­ue dis­cus­sions with the TTUTA ex­ec­u­tive on those is­sues in De­cem­ber 2022
