The Customs and Excise Division says in its ongoing fight to combat the importation of contraband it has seized a large quantity of honey.
This occurred on Thursday.
In a media release the Division said officers attached to the Marine Interdiction Unit stationed at the Cedros port; acting on information received, proceeded to the old jetty located at Bonasse Village, Cedros.
They intercepted a truck with sixty (60) five gallon buckets loaded with honey. The estimated street value of the cargo is approximately TT$250,000.00.
It said in close proximity to the interception were seven Spanish speaking men who were not in possession of any identification. The officers detained the men and handed them over to the Immigration Division.
Investigations are ongoing.
