The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has just announced a delay of three weeks in the administration of this year's regional exams. Communicating the decision that was taken during a special meeting earlier today, CXC's Registrar and CEO Dr Wayne Wesley said the exams will now commence on May 23, with results projected to be released in late August or early September.

Further to this, CXC has also granted a two-week extension for the submission of School Based Assessments which Wesley said would still be in the hands of local registrars and so, candidates will be able to make adjustments before final submission. Meanwhile, a list of the broad topics will also be released in a few weeks, so candidates will have a general idea of what would be featured in the exam. Pressed to say what led CXC to take these decisions, Wesley said COVID-19 and its resultant impact across the region was considered.
