Tobago Correspondent

Political leader of the PNM Tobago Council Ancil Dennis has again accused the Tobago People’s Party (TPP) of secretly collaborating and negotiating with the United National Congress (UNC).

At a spot meeting in Mt Grace on Wednesday night, Dennis claimed the TPP planned to hand over Tobago’s two seats to the UNC, thereby facilitating their return to government.

“Make no mistake, a vote for Farley Augustine and the TPP is a vote for Kamla Persad-Bissessar and the UNC. That is what they want—power at any cost,” he said.

Dennis warned Tobagonians against trusting TPP political leader with their votes and recalled past instances where alliances between Tobago representatives and the UNC did not benefit the island.

He further alleged that Augustine has been quietly negotiating and partnering with the UNC since December 2021 and urged voters to be cautious, saying: “Do not be fooled again. Once is enough.”

Dennis also questioned Augustine’s political integrity, suggesting that his leadership has been defined by secrecy and deception.

“Farley Augustine has never been upfront with the people of Tobago. He always says one thing in public and does something else behind closed doors,” he said.

Dennis previously claimed to have evidence linking Augustine to the UNC. However, Augustine has denied these allegations.

Dennis encouraged Tobagonians to support the PNM candidates, sying it was important to have experienced representation that prioritises the island’s interests.

“Tobago needs strong leadership. Tobago needs a government that understands its needs and fights for its future. The PNM has always been that party,” he said.
