A 29-year-old man from Diego Martin has been detained for questioning in connection with the possession of 13 blue and gold macaws and one yellow-footed tortoise on Sunday.
The arrest came during an intelligence-led anti-crime exercise conducted in the Southern Division between 4 pm and 9 pm on Sunday, which was coordinated by Snr Supt Winchester, Asp Jaikaran and Insp Phillip.
It was directly supervised by Sgt Joseph, Sgt Prescott, Ag/Cpl Charles and Ag/Cpl Bhagwandeen and included personnel of the Southern Divison’s Task Force.
Police said search warrants for firearms and ammunition were executed at several locations in the Moruga police district.
The man, a marine engineer of Gookool Street, Diego Martin, was charged by PC Boodram with possession of protected animals. (RDR)
