An attempt to kidnap a Diego Martin man on Wednesday morning was unsuccessful, after he fought off his attackers and managed to escape.
The 37-year-old man, of Patna Village, left his black Toyota Rav 4 idling on Salandy Street, Diego Martin, around 8.20 am and went into R Jagroop Breakfast Shop.
While he was waiting to be attended to in the shop, a white heavily tinted Y12 Nissan AD Wagon drove up and two armed men got out. They pointed their firearms at the victim and ordered him to get into his vehicle, but he refused.
The men grabbed the victim and dragged him to the waiting Y12 Nissan AD Wagon but he managed to break free and ran off as one of the men fired a shot in his direction.
He later returned to find his vehicle missing. A spent 9 mm shell was recovered at the scene.
