A driver attached to Furness Trinidad Limited was robbed at gunpoint by three men yesterday morning as he left Sea Lots after collecting money for his employer.
The 48-year-old man had gone to Furness Trinidad Limited on Production Drive, Sea Lots, around 8 am, where he received an envelope containing an undisclosed amount of cash before leaving.
It is alleged that as he waited in standstill traffic, preparing to merge onto the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway heading into Port-of-Spain, three men approached his van. One, armed with a gun, came to the front passenger door, while the other two approached the driver’s door and the right rear passenger door.
The armed man pointed the gun at the driver and demanded the money. Fearing for his life, the driver handed over the cash.
As the suspects fled back into Sea Lots, the gunman fired three shots at the van.
