The Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion has ex­tend­ed con­do­lences and pledged sup­port to the school com­mu­ni­ty of San Juan North Sec­ondary fol­low­ing the death of Form Four stu­dent Isa­iah Pem­ber­ton.

In a state­ment, the Min­istry de­scribed Isa­iah as some­one whose pres­ence “brought light and pos­i­tiv­i­ty to those around him,” adding that he “will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”

The Min­istry said the Stu­dent Sup­port Ser­vices Di­vi­sion will con­tin­ue to pro­vide care and as­sis­tance to stu­dents and staff as the new school term be­gins.

Pem­ber­ton, of Priz­gar Lands, Laven­tille, drowned while bathing with rel­a­tives at a beach in Ch­aguara­mas on Sat­ur­day af­ter­noon.

Emer­gency ser­vices and Coast Guard divers re­spond­ed, but ef­forts to re­vive him at the St James Med­ical Com­plex were un­suc­cess­ful.
