The Ministry of Education has extended condolences and pledged support to the school community of San Juan North Secondary following the death of Form Four student Isaiah Pemberton.
In a statement, the Ministry described Isaiah as someone whose presence “brought light and positivity to those around him,” adding that he “will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”
The Ministry said the Student Support Services Division will continue to provide care and assistance to students and staff as the new school term begins.
Pemberton, of Prizgar Lands, Laventille, drowned while bathing with relatives at a beach in Chaguaramas on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency services and Coast Guard divers responded, but efforts to revive him at the St James Medical Complex were unsuccessful.
