The Ministry of Education says remedial works are continuing at Gloster Lodge Moravian Primary School, which was closed on Tuesday, with some critical works scheduled to be completed over the coming weekend.
In a media release, the Ministry said the works were being prioritised to protect the health, safety and well-being of students and staff, while ensuring continuity of instruction, particularly for Standard Four and Five pupils preparing for the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA).
The Ministry said it had been engaging relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Public Utilities, to coordinate and advance the necessary works.
Given the school’s history spanning more than 70 years, the Ministry is also collaborating with the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the school’s physical infrastructure.
The assessment is expected to inform any further interventions needed to support the school’s long-term functionality and sustainability.
In the meantime, contingency arrangements have been activated, with alternative accommodation options being explored if necessary to minimise disruption to teaching and learning.
The Ministry said it remained committed to ensuring access to quality education for all students and working with relevant stakeholders to provide a safe and suitable teaching and learning environment.
