The North Central Regional Health Authority has announced that urgent electrical upgrade works will take place at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex from Friday at 6:00 a.m. to Monday at 6:00 a.m.
The works will involve one of the two major transformers on the hospital’s electrical grid. The authority said the upgrade is part of measures to improve the reliability of the electrical system.
As a result, several services at the Complex will be postponed during the period. These include outpatient clinics scheduled for Friday, elective surgeries scheduled for the same day, and radiology appointments including CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and X-rays across all three days.
Patients with scheduled appointments for Friday will be contacted with new dates. Those who are not contacted are asked to call 645-2629.
The authority confirmed that critical and emergency patients will continue to be seen at the Emergency Departments, while persons requiring non-urgent care are advised to use district healthcare facilities and health centres during this period.
The authority also said all critical care services will remain in place, with contingency measures implemented to ensure patient and staff safety.
The North Central Regional Health Authority expressed appreciation to the public for their cooperation during the period of the upgrade works.
