Energy Minister meets Turkiye officials

The Min­is­ter of En­er­gy and En­er­gy In­dus­tries Stu­art Young M.P has met with of­fi­cials from Turkiye (for­mer­ly Turkey).

Ac­cord­ing to the En­er­gy Min­istry, Min­is­ter Young had a cour­tesy call with Am­bas­sador Ex­tra­or­di­nary and Plenipo­ten­tiary of the Re­pub­lic of Turkiye, Her Ex­cel­len­cy, Mrs Bengü Yiğit­gü­den, Ad­vi­sor to the Board of Kar­pow­er­hip, for­mer Am­bas­sador Mr Şan­der Gür­büz and Mr Sudesh Botha, Di­rec­tor of GIS­CAD Lim­it­ed to­day.

It said Min­is­ter Young com­menced the meet­ing by ex­press­ing sym­pa­thy and em­pa­thy to the peo­ple of Turkiye hav­ing re­gard to the re­cent loss of life due to earth­quakes.

It added that the par­ties then dis­cussed Kar­pow­er­ships which op­er­ates a fleet of 36 pow­er ships and pro­vides 5000 MW of elec­tric­i­ty to its cus­tomers across Latin Amer­i­ca, Africa, the Pa­cif­ic and Eu­rope.

The Min­istry said “Dis­cus­sions were cen­tred around the com­pa­ny’s pow­er ships and what such so­lu­tions of­fered with re­spect to pow­er gen­er­a­tion and sup­ply. Flex­i­bil­i­ty was a key com­po­nent ad­dressed as these ships can be re­lo­cat­ed to dif­fer­ent lo­ca­tions as well as switch be­tween dif­fer­ent fu­el types de­pend­ing on the avail­abil­i­ty and af­ford­abil­i­ty of fu­els.”

Turkiye has made high­ly ap­pre­ci­at­ed con­tri­bu­tions to the de­vel­op­ment of our com­mu­ni­ty, with sig­nif­i­cant sup­port to the CARI­COM De­vel­op­ment Fund and to the Caribbean Dis­as­ter Emer­gency Man­age­ment Agency (CDE­MA), as well as grant­i­ng schol­ar­ships to our na­tion­als,” The Min­istry said.
