Min­is­ter of En­er­gy and En­er­gy In­dus­tries, Stu­art Young MP, has held talks with Shell Ex­ec­u­tives in Hous­ton, Texas, this week.

Min­is­ter Young is at­tend­ing CER­AWeek.  CER­AWeek is host­ed by S&P Glob­al and is con­sid­ered one of the world's pre­mier en­er­gy con­fer­ences.

In a state­ment, Min­is­ter Young said he had had meet­ings with Shell ex­ec­u­tives Cedric Cre­mers, Ex­ec­u­tive Vice Pres­i­dent for LNG; and Eu­gene Okpere, Se­nior Vice Pres­i­dent and Coun­try Chair for Shell Trinidad and To­ba­go.

"I was al­so able to catch up with Mr Wael Sawan, Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer of Shell Glob­al,” the en­er­gy min­is­ter re­port­ed in his state­ment.

“We dis­cussed the growth and strength­en­ing of the re­la­tion­ship be­tween Trinidad and To­ba­go and Shell and the many achieve­ments that we have been able to ac­com­plish since Shell re-en­tered Trinidad and To­ba­go in 2016," he said.

Min­is­ter Young al­so not­ed that he had a pro­duc­tive meet­ing with Ms An­na Sh­pits­berg, Deputy As­sis­tant Sec­re­tary at the Bu­reau of En­er­gy Re­sources, Unit­ed States De­part­ment of State.

"We dis­cussed en­er­gy se­cu­ri­ty and the po­ten­tial of sus­tain­able en­er­gy projects in Trinidad and To­ba­go and the CARI­COM," he said.

In ad­di­tion to in­ter­views with Reuters and En­er­gy In­tel­li­gence, Min­is­ter Young said he was in­ter­viewed for CER­AWeek 2023 by Mr Car­los Pas­cual, Sr. Vice Pres­i­dent, Geopol­i­tics and In­ter­na­tion­al Af­fairs, S&P Glob­al.

Al­so at­tend­ing CER­AWeek with the en­er­gy min­is­ter are San­dra Fras­er, Act­ing Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary in the Min­istry of En­er­gy and En­er­gy In­dus­tries, and Mark Lo­quan, Pres­i­dent of NGC.
